For over 28 years the team at Chris Browne Builders Ltd have been carrying out building works including new build premises, extensions, refurbishments, repairs and maintenance to commercial premises including schools, nursing homes, warehouses and fitness centres.
The business has grown steadily over the last several years through a mixture of new and repeat business. New business has been won through referrals, competitive tendering and through the development of digital outreach such as a new website and social media presence.
Surveyor Deborah Turner commented on what she thought set Chris Browne Builders apart from their competitors: “We offer a level of service that few building contractors can deliver. Most of our work is referral and repeat business because we genuinely look after our customers and respond directly to their specific needs. We pride ourselves on building lasting, genuine relationships and work as a tight knit team. Our continued growth in a challenging economic climate also demonstrates our success.”
Having been established for so many years, the business has had a number of employees walk through their doors. Staff development is a key factor in the businesses success and Chris Browne Builders endeavours to ensure that employees are offered personal development and are encouraged to undertake job-related training. They have an apprenticeship scheme and to date, all of their apprentices have been offered full-time employment and are still employed by them.
Deborah spoke about why she had entered the business into the 2016 Swale Business Awards: “We have established a successful local business employing local staff and using (whenever possible) local suppliers and small businesses. We strive to offer the best quality to our clients and take the time at the outset of projects to really understand the needs of the client so that we always exceed expectations. Customer satisfaction is our first priority and our staff are recruited based on their attitude and their values as well as their competency to undertake the works.”
