Smythe & Walter Chartered Financial Planners

If you want to make the most out of life without having to worry about your finances, then you are exactly the type of customer that Smythe & Walter Chartered Financial Planners has been looking after since they were established in 2010.

Based at Brogdale Farm in Faversham, their team provides independent financial planning services to both businesses and private clients, with an emphasis on ethical investment. In fact, Smythe & Walter Chartered Financial Planners is the only financial adviser in Kent to be a member of the Ethical Investment Association and as a result they deal with clients across the county who wish to make these considerations part of their financial planning.

Managing Director Lee Smythe described exactly what his business offers to customers: “We provide our customers with advice across numerous areas, including retirement planning, inheritance tax mitigation and estate planning, family protection, business protection and employee benefits. We provide a highly personalised service to our clients, a service which is based around long term relationships and working together to achieve our client’s goals. We have found in the past that many people come to us after dealing with larger firms where advisers come and go and they like the fact that with us they always receive a consistent service.”

Expertise and experience are words that many businesses use, but Lee and his team can back these words up substantially. Lee is a Chartered Financial Planner, Certified Financial Planner and also a Chartered Wealth Manager – making him one of the best-qualified financial advisers in the UK. He started the business after working as a partner at a large London stockbroker, where he was MD of their Financial Planning arm.

As a regulated firm Smythe & Walter Chartered Financial Planners is required to ensure that advisers are subject to rigorous Continuing Professional Development requirements to maintain a high degree of up to date knowledge. In order to achieve this, they provide access to external seminars as well as internal training.

Lee discussed why he had entered the business into the Swale Business Awards: “We are a local business that supports the local community. Financial planning can often be extremely complex and people need good advice, which unfortunately can now be difficult to come by. Take the recent pension changes for example. In the past, someone could go and discuss this with their bank manager, but now many banks will not deal with this. We are able to offer people the advice and support they need, and we try to do this so it is as cost effective as possible for the customer. I hope that by entering the awards we can highlight that this service is available for people who are not sure who to turn to for advice in times of financial uncertainty.”
