Fabricsagogo

Our next entry into the Swale Business Awards is a sole trader that has spent the last three years building her customer base, selling both through her high street store and through Facebook. Katrina Lennox-Gurr has been running Fabricsagogo, an independent fabric, knitting and haberdashery shop in Sheerness since October 2015.

“Customers not only come to my shop to buy supplies but to ask advice and meet with friends,” Katrina explained. “It is very social - it’s a community hub for like minded crafters. There isn’t really any other shop that offers what I do, which means I get customers visiting me from all over Kent – and beyond!”

Although still a sole trader at the moment, Katrina has big ambitions for the future of her business. Not only is she hoping to begin taking on staff soon, but she is keen to begin offering classes at her store, as well as expanding her online offering.

When asked why she felt her business should be recognised at the 2018 Swale Business Awards, Katrina said: “I’ve bought a much needed service to a deprived area of Sheerness, and my customers continue to return on a weekly and sometimes even daily basis. I welcome people to come and browse. I'm always happy to help with customers craft projects and give advice if needed...there's usually someone in the shop that can help solve most sewing or knitting problems. I have customers travelling to me from all over Kent, which in turn helps the local Sheerness economy as they often stay for lunch at local cafes too.”
