Pecunia 2016

Entering the Swale Business Awards for the first time in 2018 is Pecunia 2016, a sophomore business that provides a credit control consultancy and training service – helping businesses to focus on improving their cash flow and management of credit.

Tracey Westell, Director of the business, breaks down how Pecunia 2016 can help other businesses: “We have found in our experience that unfortunately, many people and businesses have not given cash flow and credit management the attention it deserves. We perform a 'health check' on a firm's credit management functions, providing recommendations for formulating or improving systems and procedures relative to providing credit facilities to their customers, training staff and business owners in risk assessment and effective cash collection methods as well as debt recovery. Our emphasis is on helping firms with their 'front end' processes in order to prevent/reduce problems at the 'back end' surrounding late payment, non-payment and queries, also ensuring businesses are looking after their most valuable current asset; the aged debt analysis (debtors ledger).”

Pecunia 2016 also provides a variety of public and bespoke credit control training courses, seminars and support programmes for businesses, business owners and credit control staff. Tracey prides herself on providing business presentations that are educational and captivating, yet also serious.

Tracey spoke about why she felt that her business stood out in Swale: “We believe the vast majority of the services we offer are unique and that no other business is offering these, especially in relation to reviewing, amending, producing and implementing robust procedures, processes and documentation for risk assessment through to cash collection. Our ethos is ‘prevention rather than cure’ and we are proud to have helped businesses implement systems to protect their credit exposure, increase their cash flow and reduce the possibility of bad debts. We have met hundreds of wonderful business people over the last two years who have enormous expertise in their chosen field of products and services they provide, which is incredible. However, because we keep seeing statistics of how many businesses fail in the first 2-3 years of existence owing to cash flow problems, we want to ensure these experts focus some of their time on their credit management and working capital requirements in order that they can thrive and prosper and are not added to the list of business failures.”
