For almost a decade now, Faversham’s Smythe & Walter Chartered Financial Planners have been providing financial planning advice, including retirement planning, estate planning and investment planning to both individuals and small businesses in Kent.
Based on Brogdale Farm, Smythe & Walter is headed up by Managing Director Lee Smythe. Lee discussed what made his business different: “Our business holds the "Chartered Financial Planners" title and we are totally independent and directly regulated by the FCA, rather than being tied to a particular company or network. This ensures that we are able to provide the right advice for clients rather than having to fit them in to a limited offering. I personally am a Chartered Financial Planner, a Chartered Wealth Manager, a Certified Financial Planner and I hold a Masters Degree in financial planning, all of which puts me in the top 2% of the best qualified financial planners in the country.”
The business does things a little differently to other financial planners, and this extends to more than just being independent. Smythe and Walter are currently the only financial planners in Kent to be registered with the Ethical Investment Association. This means they are ideally positioned to help those whom are keen to take a more sustainable approach to their finances.
When asked why he felt that his business deserved to be recognised at the 2019 awards, Lee replied: “We work hard to provide an excellent service to the local community, with word of mouth being our greatest form of advertising. Whilst we are of course in business to pay the bills, we will also try where possible to conduct some work on a pro-bono basis where we feel local people would struggle to find assistance elsewhere. In addition to this we provide an excellent and supportive working environment and encourage our staff to excel. In addition, we believe in sustainable investment solutions and we actively try to promote these to our clients in order that we can all help to make the world a better place whilst also helping clients to achieve their own financial goals.”
