ABM Training UK

For a decade now, ABM Training UK has been delivering in house NVQ apprenticeship training to Kent, Sussex and parts of London. With a team of 18 members of staff, ABM Training UK tackles apprenticeship training in the following areas: Health and Social Care, Teaching Support, ICT, Business Administration, Facilities Services, Team Leading Management, Customer Service, Cleaning, and Early years.

The last twelve months have seen some big challenges in the apprenticeship market due to changes in government policy. Juliet Sensier, Senior Sales Advisor at ABM Training discussed what this had meant for the business: “Up until May 2017 training was 100% funded by the government to any employee that was employed for a minimum of 25 hours per week. Since the new reform employers dependent on their size have to make a contribution to the funding of all training. This ranges from a 10% contribution for small business to 100% contributions from large organisations. This has had a huge financial impact on training providers across the country and apprenticeship start rates have decreased by 65% in the past 12 months! To tackle this we have developed bespoke packages to suit employers and payment plans to ensure that our current and new employers are able to maintain the level of training they are used to receiving for their staff. We have attended careers events had face to face meetings to engage with employers on how best to use their funding to support staff members.”

Based on a farm in Tunstall Village, ABM Training offers a supportive working environment for their employees. The business supports flexible working and as you would expect they place a real emphasis on helping staff to develop new skills through in house and external training.

Juliet commented on why she felt that her business was a strong contender for recognition at the 2018 Swale Business Awards: “ABM Training has overcome many changes over the past two years. With some of our major competitors going out of business we feel very happy that we are currently still engaging in new business and growing with existing employers. We have always ensured our key focus is on the success of all apprentices and that their journey and experience is a happy and enjoyable one! We strive to ensure that our dedicated staff members who work hard and go the extra mile get recognition. Our social media sites show great reviews and feedback from apprentices and employers; giving us great pleasure in knowing the service we provide is of a high standard.”
